Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Available from all major retailers from the 10th April 2015 are Samsung’s latest handsets, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Both devices come in 32, 64 and 128GB models, and in a choice of colours. White Pearl, Black Sapphire, and Gold Platinum are available for both, however Blue Topaz is reserved for the Galaxy S6 and Green Emerald, the S6 Edge.

Features for both include:

· Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 5.1 inch with Corning Gorilla Glass 4
· Nano-Sim
· Android OS, v5.0.2 (Lollipop) Platform
· 16 MP Camera with optical image stabilization, autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and panorama
· 5MP Secondary Camera
· Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer and heart rate sensors

So what’s the difference?

Well, it’s all about the Edge, quite literally. The S6 Edge has the Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, but with curved edges, giving the user a dual-edge display. One of the features of this allows the user to ‘stay connected’ even when the phone is face down on the table, as, according to research at Samsung, it is seen as impolite to interact with your mobile in social situation. But, with ‘People Edge’, you can give five of your favourite users a colour, and your phone will glow accordingly, allowing you to stay in touch discretely. Plus you can touch a sensor on the rear of the phone to reject incoming calls and send a default text.

Reviews seem very positive for both these new additions to the Samsung family, but seeing it in the flesh is your best bet if you are interested. Do bear in mind, neither of  these phones have the ability to add Micro SD cards, and both now have a non-removable battery; another step towards their main competitors!
